Day #162
I decided today that I needed to stop butchering Tyler's hair and take him for a "real" haircut to see how it's done...then I can just replicate from home once I know how to do it...right? We'll see how that works out later. Tyler was not a fan of the clippers at all, but seemed perfectly fine with the spray bottle and scissors technique...if only I can replicate the clippers result with just scissors....
Day #161
Second race of the season tonight. It was HOT. Nothing like running four miles outside on a code orange air quality day in Northern Virginia, but it was rewarding. Despite the heat I finished one minute faster than the race last month!
Day #160
In honor of our 90th anniversary the company that I work for volunteered to build a house for Habitat for Humanity. Today was our team build day and it was quite a lot of fun. It was VERY hot out there, and I have a few blisters on my hands, but it was a lot of fun. It was pretty awesome to see progress. We started with a basic sub floor and left at the end of the day with two large exterior walls framed and standing!
Day #159
I'm working from home today and have discovered Rocko's new favorite nap spot. Needless to say he's cramping my foot room!
Day #158
What a crazy few days this is going to be. Today I had a few meetings at another office so I ended up working from their conference room all day and calling in to my other meetings instead of driving back and forth. Tomorrow I work from home but I've managed to schedule 4 conference calls throughout the day, so that is looking a bit crazy too. The passenger seat of my car is stuffed with files, my laptop and gym bag.
Day #157
I hate large files. There is a project that I do once a year that results in quite possibly the biggest graphics file I've ever encountered. This evening I needed to re-size last year's file to a particular size and it took FOREVER...I had hoped to get to bed early since the next few days are going to be crazy, but that didn't happen after this seemingly quick task took over an hour.
Day #154
We took Tyler to meet Captain today. Captain is Bryant's uncle's VERY large horse. Tyler was very afraid of it, so we didn't stay long, but he's such a handsome fella isn't he?
Day #153
I LOVE opening the refrigerator door and seeing freshly washed/cut/prepared fruit staring back at me. How can I not eat it?!
Day #152
I had a stroke of genius today while eating my salad bar salad for lunch...Tyler LOVES shredded cheese...my shredded carrots look quite similar...I wonder if he'd get some carrots in while shoveling his shredded cheese in his mouth? Hmmm...I think we will give it a try!
Day #151
Such a yummy dinner, but the only thing on this plate that he will eat is that carrot wheel. I just don't know what to do anymore!!! He doesn't let me feed him from a spoon much anymore either, so I can't really squeeze protein and veggies in that way either. Anyone out there have advice?!?
Day #150
I think it is officially summer here in Northern Virginia. I feel so bad for my husband on days like this. The shop that he works at doesn't have air conditioning, so I know he's sweating it out today. Hope everyone is staying cool in this heat!
Day # 149
He likes it! We took advantage of the nice long weekend and took Tyler swimming today. Despite the REALLY cold pool, he actually got in and liked it! We went slow at first, sitting on the step and splashing for a while, but we managed to get all the way in and float around in his new floaty too! It was great fun. I hope he likes it just as much when we go to the beach house in a few weeks.
Day #148
Since Tyler is officially 1 year old it has occurred to me that so is this pretty little plant that sits in the corner of our sun room. If you know me well you know that this is no small feat! I tend to kill nearly every green plant in my presence...yes, I've killed three bunches of bamboo thus far...I'm that good. This pretty plant was delivered to me at the hospital the day that Tyler was born. It was from my coworker and friend. I am rather proud that I have kept it alive for ONE WHOLE YEAR...make note...I probably just jinxed myself.
