Day #58

Who needs Starbucks when you've got this handy fellow on your kitchen counter? Guess that's a good thing when the closest Starbucks is 30 minutes away. Ah...the smell of a latte on a Sunday morning.

Day #57

Holy Tupperware Batman!

Tyler has a new found fascination with doors...he can be entertained for minutes opening and closing and opening and closing. His head is showing the result of this new found fascination in the form of pretty purple bruises. So, I've given him the keys to the Tupperware cabinet. He spends a few minutes playing with the door and then realizes all of neat things INSIDE the cabinet and proceeds to pull every last item out. It's great fun apparently.

Day #56

Well, the honeymoon is over. I've been spoiled by the free parking in the town parking garage since before the holidays. Today however they have stopped the free parking. So, alas, I find whatever free street parking I can find and walk a few blocks to work. I get to work fairly early, so I can usually find a close street spot and only walk about 3 blocks, but then I end up eating lunch at my desk so I don't loose said spot by going out for lunch. Loosing the "good" spot means I'll likely have to park in the public lot which is about 8 blocks from the office. I don't mind the walk really, it just means I need to factor the extra 10 minutes of walk time into my already tight leave work, go to gym, get Tyler schedule. Oh well...guess that's the price I pay for refusing to pay to park closer!

Day #55

Some days you just need a little retail therapy. I found mine today in the form of shoe shopping. I'm finding that I am rather picky about my shoes, and shoes for work are even harder to find. Today however I did find one pair which I bought in both black and brown since I couldn't decide which color to get in the store in the time allotted for my lunch break.

Day #54

Today has turned out to be a very stressful day at work. By the time I made it out of my 2:00 meeting I was mentally cooked. Do you ever get that way? I just couldn't seem to bring myself to start any new projects now that my whole day had been consumed on one massive project and a major decision. So, I proceeded to watch the clock on my computer count down to 4:00. Leaving work didn't help much either. I was so mentally consumed I couldn't even enjoy my run at the gym...just walked so at least I was getting some exercise. Better luck tomorrow...

Day #53

Well, with most birthday milestones comes a pediatrician check up. Not too many shots this time, but he did have to get a toe prick to check his blood. He passed with flying colors and is healthy as can be!

Day #52

Sometimes it pays to be married to a chef. Period.

Day #51

Tyler is 9 months old today! To celebrate we got a new toy. This fancy table that sings the ABCs and 123s and makes all kinds of lights and sounds. Tyler has learned to pull himself up and brace himself while he plays with all of the buttons. He loves it! Happy Birthday little man!

Day #50

Date night! Wahoo!!!! My mom came up to watch Tyler for a few hours for us tonight. Hubby and I ran off and enjoyed a quick but relaxing dinner together. Taking time to breathe during dinner takes some getting used to when you've come accustomed to eating at lightning speed with a fussy kid at your feet!

Day #49

Hubby sure knows the way to my heart...strawberries. These little gems got delivered to me at work on Valentines day and quickly disappeared after that. The white chocolate and coconut covered ones were my favorite! YUM-O!

Day #48

My little Valentine! I got him this balloon during our last grocery trip and he hasn't let go of it since. He sits on the floor just like this and shakes his arms all around waving the balloon. Super cute...those cheeks are so irresistible too!

Day #47

The "social committee" at work is spreading the love this week with cute little Valentine goodie bags! Fun to be in the spirit at home and at work!

Day #46

Love, Love, Love! Tyler LOVES to snuggle and giggle with his daddy in the evenings! The sounds just fills my heart with joy!

Day #45

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach right? Well, since I'm not a good cook I surprised hubby today with a Valentine lunch delivery at work. Unfortunately I couldn't stay to eat with him, but it was fun to surprise him.

Day #44

It's the beginning of LOVE week around here. To kick it off right our Girl Scout cookies just got delivered! Back in the day I used to be the #1 cookie seller in my troop...now I'm just the #1 eater.

Day #43

Went to visit grandpa and Kathy today! Had a great time visiting. Here's Tyler playing with grandpa's shiny ring.

Day #42

Those that know me know that I tend to avoid sausage, hot dogs, and other questionable/less than lean meat like it's the plague. Today however a craving hit that only comes along once in a blue moon...the hot dog craving. Not just any hot dog mind you...the all beef, foot-long hot dog from Costco. I can never finish a whole one, but it's quite delicious, and with a soda for only $1.50 it's the cheapest lunch around!

Day #41

Ah-Ha! Proof that there really is light at the end of my driveway...in other words, SPRING IS COMING!! Yahoo! There is starting to be at least a little glimmer of daylight left by the time munchky and I get home after work. Already dreaming of evening walks to the playground and crawling in the grass and playing kickball in the front yard and...

Day #40

Little hands attempting to drink from a little cup.

Since we aren't making much headway with the puffs I thought we'd try drinking from a cup. After purchasing 3 cups that claimed to be "spill-proof" I found this fancy little cup that actually IS spill-proof. You can see he's figured out how to hold it, but is enjoying throwing it around the room more than anything. He chews on the nipple for a while, but hasn't mastered tipping the cup up to get the milk out yet...

Day #39

The plague has taken over our home. Tyler an I started the week with a nasty cold. (Of course mommys aren't allowed to take sick days so Monday and Tuesday at work were miserable.) Here's hoping winter and cold season are on their way out of town!

Day #38

Well, I've jumped the hurdle and am attempting to get Tyler to eat some puffs. Here they are on his tray and stuck to his hand...where they remain until he throws them on the floor. I've managed to get a few in his mouth, but he wants nothing to do with them. He gags and gags like he's choking because he thinks there is some sort of foreign object in his mouth. Hmmm.

Day #37

We went to a friend's 4th birthday party yesterday and had a great time. I couldn't help but notice that 98% of his presents were trucks of all varieties...spiderman trucks, fire trucks, trucks that turn into helicopters, trucks that float in the bath tub, transformer trucks, trucks that spray water, trucks that change color in water...you get the idea. Here in our house the colorful truck above is our one and only truck so far...although, I'm sure they will multiply rapidly over the next few years. Zoom zoom!

Day #36

If you want something done you better do it yourself!

I LOVE jalapeno poppers, but only ones with cream cheese in them. I have no love for the cheddar cheese version, but unfortunately it is nearly impossible to buy ready-made ones at the grocery, or even at a restaurant. So...we've made them ourselves. ALL of Bryant's cousins are coming over tonight so we've whipped up these bad boys (pictured pre-breading/frying). YUM-O!

Day #35

Who knew ordinary kitchen utensils could entertain a munchky long enough for mommy to make dinner. Whatever works right?!

Day #34

And the curtains were hung on the window with glee...

With the new desk and file cabinet moved in, I've finally gotten our papers filed away so the floor is visible, and we've gotten the curtains hung! The room is actually complete now....well, aside from the bare walls. We'll work on artwork for the walls later.

Day #33

I'm a nerd...I know, but I'm in the Valentine spirit, and after all that holiday spending I'm trying to be frugal about it. SO...I channeled my second grade craft skills and cut out some construction paper hearts for Tyler's bedroom door. I realize that he's too young to appreciate them, but they make me smile when I see them and I hope they make him smile too.

Day #32

Totally out of my box today!

I am usually a strict studs or small silver hoop earring kind of girl, but I found these earrings while holiday shopping and could not resist them. I think they are beautiful. I have such sensitive skin that I usually cannot wear earrings that are not white gold or gold, so we'll see how long I can keep them in. I'm sure I'll get a lot of strange looks today since these are WAY outside of the box for me!

Day #31

This tiny little puff sure is weighing heavy on my shoulders! I know that Tyler is technically ready to try finger foods since he is 8 months old and crawling, but I am TERRIFIED that he's going to choke. This kid might just go to college eating pureed food!

Day #30

Nothing better than a quiet Sunday at home with dinner brewing in the crock pot all day. Love the smell!

Day #29

Clear the tables! Little man is learning to pull himself up now and is VERY interested in everything that is on the table.

Day #28

The floor is here! We've been looking at a white painted sub-floor in our formal dining room since we moved in 2.5 years ago (we were forced to pull up the carpet that was in there due to the smell). We've finally gotten the flooring to match the other floors on our main level. The wood has been spread out to "acclimate" to our home. The handy hubby will be installing it on Friday!
